I am a college graduate living on my own. I currently work in non-profit journalism and recently moved home to be with my family when my mom's cancer came back and she eventually passed away from the disease. After losing my mom, I became very ill and the doctors were unable to figure out why I was so sick. I was eventually diagnosed with a chronic disease I will have for the rest of my life. After my diagnosis, I was sent immediately to the hospital, where I spent 15 days receiving treatment. I make just enough to cover my basic bills and had been living just fine until these unexpected medical costs happened. I took off a lot of time from work during my mom's time in hospice to care for her and then following her death as I dealt with immense grief. The week I was planning to go back to work full-time I became very sick and was hospitalized. I am finally back to work full-time, feeling so much better and have found ways to cope with my grief. The medical bills I am now facing are very overwhelming and a severe stress as I try to form a normal life again. I will need a lot of medications and IV infusions for the rest of my life and it would be so helpful to leave these bills behind and start fresh in 2014 so I can manage my medical costs. I currently have more than $2,000 in medical debt and $8,000 in credit card debt from the last year. This year has been the hardest of my life. I would be so grateful for the help as I have often felt so alone dealing with this disease and losing my mom. Just knowing there are people out there who care means more than I can express.

Hello my name is Abena Brown I'm a mother of 4 children. I moved to Atlanta ga 6 months ago running from my children dad. He had been beating on me for so many years and my children have seen this go on for so long... What made me get up and run was my 6 year old son ask me one day " mommy why do you keep letting daddy hit on you? Mommy please let's leave when daddy go to sleep.. And that's what we did... I called my best friend that moved to Ga. And ask her could we come there and she told me only if I was ready to get away from my children dad... My children and I got on a bus all the way here.. This was the best thing I have every did for my children. My friend let us stay with her and family, then she help me get a job so I could take care of my family. Then my job laid me off. I don't have the any money to pay my rent or pay for the gas to keep the house and water hot. I just want to know can you help my children and I. I'm out doing everything I can to go out and look for work when my children are in school but it's very hard when I don't even have a car or bus fare to get there. But that don't stop me sometimes I walk until I can't walk anymore. Whatever you can do for my family will be much appreciated.

I recently moved to a new town for school. Already went to a two year and just trying to get my bachelors. Well, I moved down here with a job secured but they were unable to hire me due to unforeseen reasons. I am now low on cash and need to make a rent payment. Rent is 800 a month total and I have to make half of it. I'd go into more debt right now but school doesn't start for almost two weeks. So student loans are out of the question. Please, have some mercy and help a poor student out. I'm not sure what I'll do if I miss my first month's rent payment.

I've tried this site before with no help in site. I've fallen behind on many bills because of a loss of employment and an expensive car fix that was needed about a month ago. I'm trying to get myself out on my own still, but if there is anyone who can offer assistance in any way please help me.

Hello! I am writing to ask for donations towards getting me housed. I was renting the same place for over three years when at the beginning of December I was told it had been sold and that I had to be out by the 21st, having just got into a new position at work, for which I had to take a pay cut (but will eventually lead to amazing things) I am stuck for a deposit to get me into a new place. I was renting from a 'friend' (who kicks you out at Christmas) and didn't put a deposit down and it was also fully furnished so I am well ad truly stick right now. I have £500 to my name and ideally need £1500 for a deposit. I would like to be in a new place before the 6th Jan as that is when I am back to work, I am currently staying 2 hours from my work place at a friends house whilst I try to sort something out. No, I am not the most needy person out there, I an healthy and I am happy and I couldn't be more grateful for that, but I would not be lying when I say I am homeless. Anything you give will be received with immense thanks and gratitude and I endeavour to keep giving back to those less fortunate than myself. Thank you so much for giving to me.
