PLEASE HELP!!! Facing Homelessness and Seeking Urgent Help to Get Back on My Feet

Hello!

After working overseas as a teacher for over 10 years, I returned to the U.S. five months ago for the first time in 9 years. I came back to recover from burnout, reestablish myself, and explore new job opportunities.

Since returning, I’ve made progress: I opened a U.S. bank account and established a physical address by staying at an extended stay hotel. But I’ve run into major roadblocks with renewing my expired driver’s license and finding work. I discovered that I couldn’t take the road test without access to a car, and the few affordable services that help with this either no longer exist or are currently out of reach due to cost.

I’ve applied to dozens of jobs, from fast food and retail to housekeeping, and have received no offers, not even from the hotel I’m currently staying in. My savings and credit were only supposed to last 2 months, and now I have nothing left. My phone service was disconnected, I haven’t eaten since Thursday, and my bank account currently has just $0.22.

If I don’t receive help by Saturday, July 19, I will have to leave my hotel with nowhere to go. I have no nearby family or friends to turn to. I’ve also signed up for Uber Eats (on foot), but I’ve received no delivery requests. Drivers using cars or e-bikes in my area are the ones getting consistent work.

If I could get just enough financial support to:

1) Pay for my extended stay for the next 1–2 months ($359 per week or $1405 per month)

2) Cover the cost of renting a vehicle from a driving school to renew my license ($150 for the car + $32 license fee)

3) Eventually rent a car through a rideshare partner (about $275 to $375 per week plus deposit and insurance fees)

I could begin working delivery and rideshare jobs, rebuild stability, and earn enough to either sustain myself here or return overseas where I have work opportunities waiting (once I can afford the visa and flight again).

Any donation, no matter how small, would go directly toward staying off the street and taking the steps I need to support myself.

Thank you so much for reading. If you can’t donate, sharing this post or even offering advice or resources would mean a lot.

Much love and gratitude to everyone!
